Unfolding the Loom
Remove all plastic wrap from the loom. Loosen the two black knobs (approximately 1 turn) on both sides of the loom. Standing at the front of the loom, hold onto the front and rear beams and pull them together very slightly. Pull the auto lock (L the red lever on the left side of loom) out of it’s hole just enough to release it.

NOTE: Be careful not to pull the auto lock out of the metal side brace (S). Allow the front and back beams to lower slightly. Release the auto lock lever and continue to open the loom until the black knobs are at their lowest position. If there is a warp on the loom, you will need to step on the brake release pedal while unfolding the loom. When the loom is all the way down in the open position, push the black knobs down to the bottom of the channel and tighten them.

Installing the Beater Pegs
Tap the slotted end of the beater pegs (P) into the holes on the outer side of each beater upright (U). From the inside of the beater upright fasten each peg with the 3/4” round-head screw.

Attaching the Extension to the Front Beam
Use the three 1 1/2” flathead phillips screws to attach the extension (E) to the outside of the front beam (B). It helps to lubricate the screws with soap.

Attaching the Wheels to the Rear Leg Brace
Attach the wheels when the loom is in its open position. Use two 1 1/2” round head machine screws and two lock nuts to attach each wheel to the rear leg brace.

Attaching the Warp Beam Crank Handle
Remove the protective wood block from the warp beam crank rod (R) by unscrewing it in a counter-clockwise direction. Place the 3/8” washer (W) and then the metal crank handle on the rod (R) with the wooden crank handle (H) facing out. Secure with the the 3/8” cap nut (P). To engage the crank for turning the warp beam, pull the hexagonal hole of the crank onto the hex head nut. When weaving the crank should be pushed off of the cap nut.

Attaching the Apron Bars
There is one cord for each hole in the cloth and warp beams. Insert one end of a cord through a hole in the beam and pull the cord through. Then insert the other end through the second hole in the cord of the end that you just put through the beam. Pull firmly on the cord to tighten (A). Repeat across the cloth beam and the warp beam. To attach the apron bar to the apron cords, begin with an apron cord at one end of the beam. Make a loop at the end of this cord, 4” from its end, and insert this loop through the second hole of this cord, and pull this new loop open until it is large enough to contain the apron bar (see point X, B). Slide the apron bar through the new loop (C). Repeat across until all cords are attached to the bar. Attach the other apron bar to the other beam.

Beater Pin
The small metal pin attached to the right front leg is used to hold the beater upright during warping. Push the pin through the hole in the leg and then through the slot in the beater side. Be sure to pull out the beater pin and replace it in its holder before weaving or before folding the loom up.

Installing the Heddles and Heddle Bars in the Shafts
Lay two heddle bars on a flat surface. Keeping the heddles on their holding bars, count out the desired number for shaft 2 and place a tie around this group to mark them. Snap the black clip off one end of each holding bar by pressing down on the black button on the reverse side. Carefully slide the counted heddles onto the pair of stainless steel heddle bars. Now install this set of bars into the second shaft. To install the heddle bars, flex the top bar just enough to fit first one end and then the other into the top slot in the inside of the shaft frame. Repeat for the bottom bar.
Next install the heddles and heddle bars in the same manner on shaft 1. Then install the heddles on shafts 3 and 4, working from the rear of the loom.

Brake Adjustment
The friction brake can be adjusted by tightening or loosening the eyebolt (E). This will increase or decrease the tension of the spring (R), which will in turn increase or decrease the tension on the brake bar and the brake cable. Note: always press down on the pedal while you are winding on the warp or advancing the warp on the cloth beam.

Installing the Treadle Tracker
Insert the treadle tracker with the clip forward into the slot in the rear castle brace.

Folding the Loom
Loosen the two black knobs (approximately 1 turn) and pull up on the knobs to start folding the loom. Then with one hand on the rear beam and one hand on the front beam, pull the loom together as far as it will go. You will hear the auto lock (see Diagram 2) snap in place when the loom is completely folded. Tighten the two black knobs.
