Join Us in Celebrating 50 Years!

Fifty years ago, Barry Schacht made a drop spindle and inadvertently started a lifelong journey. Over the years, the company he created along with his brother Dan has become a leader in the world of weaving and spinning. Schacht’s success corresponds to the resurgence of handweaving and handspinning: as these crafts grew, so did we.

Over the next year, we hope you will join us in celebrating not only our company’s achievements, but also the community of weavers and spinners worldwide and the crafts that give so much to so many. We are proud and honored to be part of this enthusiastic, creative, and warm community. We want to hear your stories about your involvement in weaving and/or spinning and how our products have made a difference in what you do.

We will be sharing our stories, history, and profile many of our dedicated employees who work hard every day to make the tools you use and enjoy.

Schacht Spindle

Schacht Spindle Company, Inc. was founded during the back-to-earth movement of the late 1960's and its accompanying craft resurgence. Their first loom was a simple tapestry loom, a version which they still make today. Over nearly 50 years, Schacht has developed a broad range of high quality hand weaving and hand spinning tools, including their popular Cricket Loom and Ladybug Spinning wheel. Schacht’s mission is to create beautiful and well-designed products that enhance customers’ weaving and spinning experience through innovative problem solving, creative ideas, skilled woodworking and craftsmanship, and friendly, knowledgeable customer service. Schacht’s family owned business is located in Boulder, Colorado.
