Choose the Right Reed
Schacht refers to loom accessories by the loom's weaving width.
Measure the weaving width of a reed that fits your loom—the plastic slots and holes—and you'll know your loom's weaving width. Choose the same width for your new reed.
Schacht refers to Flip looms by their weaving width. The wood bars of the reed must fit in these grooves.
Measure between the grooves on the heddle block to get the reed's total width. Add 2" to the weaving width, and that's the total reed width.
Schacht refers to Cricket looms by their weaving width.
Reeds sit on the sides of the Cricket loom. Measure the full width of your loom except for the ratchet gears and handles on the warp and cloth beams.
A 10" Cricket will measure 12" wide; a 15" Cricket will measure 17" wide.
