To adjust tension on the Tensioned Lazy Kate, loosen the wing nut on one dowel. Rotate the dowel, wrapping or unwrapping the string around it. When you find the tension you want, tighten the wing nut.

1. Cut the old spring and string off of the dowels.
2. Insert the end of the new string through the small holes on one dowel, from underneath the dowel.
3. Bring the string end to the top of the other dowel. Thread the string through the dowel, from above the dowel.
4. Tie the string end to the spring.
