We recommend not attaching the cords to treadles until you need them—they can lose their spring if they're attached all the time. If you notice that your loom's shafts are floating, attach one cord to each treadle.

1. If necessary, detach the treadle aid cords from the treadles. Slide the treadle aid dowel off the treadle aid bar at the back of the loom. Remove all old treadle aid cords you wish to replace by pulling them down through their holes in the treadle aid bar.
2. Install new treadle aid cords: Starting at one end of the treadle aid bar, push a cord up through one of the holes (an opened paper clip can be elpful) and loop it over the dowel. Continue across the entire treadle aid bar.
3. Attach new treadle aid cords to the treadles.
