We recommend not attaching the cords to treadles until you need them—they can lose their spring if they're attached all the time. If you notice that your loom's shafts are floating, attach one cord to each treadle.
How to Install
Attach the treadle aid bar: At the back of the loom, attach the treadle aid bar to the rear castle cross brace with a #8 x 1-1/4" Phillips pan head sheet metal screw at each end.
Install the treadle aid cords: start at one end of the treadle aid bar and push a treadle aid cord up through one of the holes (an opened paper clip can be most helpful) and then loop it over the 1/4" dowel. Install treadle aid cords across the entire treadle aid bar.
You will attach the treadle aid cords to the ends of the treadles in the same manner as you will attach the tie-ups that control the lamms. We recommend using a treadle aid cord on all of the treadles if you notice that shafts are floating.
