Changing Chevrons Band

Designed and woven by Jane Patrick

For this band, I explored Z (right-threaded) and S (left-threaded) threading of the cards and the unique patterning this creates in a band. Bright colors and high contrast create a dynamic design.

What You'll Need

  • Yarns: 5/2 Pearl Cotton in #36 Poplin, #3 Fuchsia, #109 Bermuda, #12 Red, and #79 Natural.

  • 24 card weaving cards

  • Inkle loom and belt shuttle

Directions

  1. Warping: Wind the warp on the inkle loom for the desired length. I measured 4 threads according to the pattern and threaded one card at a time.

  2. Threading: Follow the threading guide below, taking care at the direction each card is threaded. For this project, the printed side of the card is facing to the right.

  3. Weaving: Wind a Schacht Belt Shuttle with Poplin. When you begin weaving, be sure that the A-D (red) edge is on top. Weave 16 turns away from you and then 15 turns towards you. Repeat.
