Spring Thaw Scarf
Designed by Jane Patrick; woven by Nora Schacht
We used 50% Fine Merino Wool/50% Tussah Silk from Swans Island for this simple plaid scarf. A subdued palette makes for a lovely soft look. This sport weight yarn is hand dyed with natural dyes in Maine.

Directions
Warp the loom according to the warping plan.
Weaving: Hemstitch after you’ve woven about 1”. Weave as threaded, aiming to square the pattern. Weave in the ends as you go. Hemstitch.
Finishing: Hand wash in hot water with Dawn detergent. Rinse in cold water. Place in hot dryer watching closely until almost dry or until sufficiently fulled. Lay flat to finish drying. Steam press with moderately hot iron, pressing firmly on the cloth. This will flatten the yarn and bring out the sheen in the yarn.
Trim fringe to about 4". We used a rotary cutter, a ruler, and a self-healing cutting mat.
