How to Install
  1. Remove the shaft from the loom: disconnect the hex nut holding the shaft to the jack, then lift the shaft out of the castle.
  2. Lay the shaft flat on a working surface. Tie together any heddles on the shaft: run one long string through the tops of the heddles, then around to the bottoms of the heddles. Knot the string securely.
  3. If the shaft has heddle bar hooks, release the heddle bar from its hook: Push up on the slide lock on the heddle bar hook and pull the heddle bar out of the hook. Release the slide lock.
  4. Flex the heddle bar(s) enough to remove one end from the slot in the side of the frame. Remove the other end from its slot in the frame.
  5. If you're replacing both heddle bars in the shaft, repeat Steps 3 and 4 for the remaining heddle bar.
  6. You can now replace one or both heddle bars in the shaft. Slide a new heddle bar through the tops of the heddles. Slide another heddle bar through the bottoms.
  7. Replace the heddle bars in the shaft frame. Insert one end of each heddle bar in the slot in the frame. Flex the heddle bar and insert the other end into its slot. Divide the heddles approximately in half and push them to either end of the heddle bar. Push up on the slide lock and place the heddle bar back on the hooks.
  8. Reinstall the shaft in the castle. Reattach the hex nut to the jack.
