When we introduced the Standard Floor Loom in 1978, it was available in 36" and 42" weaving widths. We're fairly certain that shafts/harnesses on both sizes had one heddle hook per bar (two total on each shaft).
In 1983, we discontinued the 42" width and introduced a 45" width to replace it (at some point in this product's name, it was called a 46" loom). On a 45" loom, there are two heddle hooks per heddle bar and four on each shaft.
- Current accessories and parts for the 36" loom should fit older looms. It's best to contact us before placing an order. Please include your loom's serial number.
- Current accessories and parts for the 45" loom should fit older 45/46" looms. It's best to contact us before placing an order. Please include your loom's serial number.
-
However, most 45" accessories and parts will NOT fit the old 42" looms. See the list below for more information.
If you're not sure of your loom's weaving width, measure the beater top between the two sides. On a 42" loom, this distance will be about 43".
We no longer make most wood parts for the 42" loom. Look for a nearby woodworker or woodworking guild. Take the part(s) to them for a consultation—it's usually not hard to make replicas.
Some of our current parts or accessories for Standard Floor Looms will fit the 42" loom, but not all:
