Choose the right size

  • Measure a reed

Schacht refers to loom accessories by the loom's weaving width.

Measure the weaving width of a reed that fits your loom—the plastic slots and holes—and you'll know your loom's weaving width. Choose the same width for your new reed.

  • Measure your Flip

The wood bars of the reed must fit in grooves on the loom's sides.

Measure between the grooves on the heddle block to get the reed's total width. Or add 2" to the weaving width, and that's the total reed width.

  • reeds for Cricket looms

    Measure your Cricket

Reeds sit on the sides of the Cricket loom. Measure the full width of your loom, including the ratchet gears and handles on the warp and cloth beams.

As shown above, a 10" Cricket will measure 13-1/2" wide; a 15" Cricket will measure 18-1/2" wide.
