Buying Used Schacht Equipment

Buying a used loom, spinning wheel, or other fiber arts tool is like buying anything used. It's helpful to collect some information before you purchase the product, so you know how it should function. Also if parts are missing, broken, or non-working, you'll have to spend more money getting replacements (if they're available).

Before you purchase used equipment, do some research:

  • Print out or download its manual from this website. The assembly manual will provide photos and it lists everything that comes with the product. You can compare the photos with the equipment you're considering. You can see if any parts are missing.
  • Compare prices. Schacht cannot offer pricing recommendations for used products, but on this website, you can see an item's current price.
  • Look for repair parts and see how much they cost—see below.

While you examine the product, inspect it carefully. Make sure all parts are included. Operate the moving parts to make sure they function smoothly. On floor looms, measure the reed or the space between the beater sides so you can identify the loom's weaving width. (Many loom accessories and repair parts are sold by weaving width.)

Repair Parts

We can supply parts for most current products, though depending on the age, changes may have been made to a product where our current part won’t work with your model. In the case of floor looms and spinning wheels, use the serial number to determine its age.

For discontinued products, we may no longer have parts, or we may have limited parts.
